CMJ…

October 20, 2007

ok, so we got to jersey city late, went upstairs to the art space and found shellshag playing already. we played after them, a wild, drunk, insane show as we know how to do best. after that we went to sleep at the art space. next day we played in brooklyn with shellshag, who have been such a positive influence on us ! that show was at some sort of trinket shop that has everything from vintage magazines to tee shirts, records, old record players, small toys etc. it was a great show and we stayed with shell and jen and bill in their house, oddly called “Thug Mansion”.

After that we left the city for a couple of days and played in Milford, CT (weird show, nice people), and Wilmington DE (good show, weird people). In Delaware we stayed with an amazing guy called Moe , who made pizzas for us at night and breakfast in the morning.

Thursday we arrived to Manhattan for a series of CMJ related shows. First one was at a Transvestite hangout called Lucky Cheng’s. show was run by this old guy who has been doing shows for 30 years called Frankie Wood. We played till all the strings on our guitars popped. Second show was last night at Lit Lounge. It was a pretty decent show. We played early with our good friends Lozen and met label mates Bleach03 from Japan.

Our last show is tonight… then we fly all the way home to start working on the next tour. We cant wait to meet all our friends in Israel !

We’re gonna make the best of our time back home, so expect some awesome shows with the finest of hedonistic amusement.

so, shows with monotonix were fun. we might have jinxed them though, cause there werent alot of people and this is monotonix, but still i think it was wicked. second show we played with them they played a cover medley at the end of the show which included segments of deep purple, micheal jackson and the shadows.  after ohio we drove down to virginia. cops pulled us over on the way, thought we were terrorists and gave us a ticket. so we missed the richmond show but made it to norfolk to play the boot, and italian resturaunt. after eating loads of pasta and driking every kind of beer on the tap we played one hellof a show and continued on to philadelphia where we are right now. show tonight was at a records store called siren records. lots of fun there.

so we’re staying tonight with an israeli friends in philly and tommorow we’re heading off to meet shellshag for 2 shows in jersey and brooklyn. gonna be sweet!

milwaukee turned out as one of the best shows on this tour. it was throw your peanuts on the floor night and we made it throw your peanuts on the band night, we threw peanuts at each other , ran around the bar, and played really really loud. it was the best time ever. and milwaukee is beautiful. from there we drove to chicago and played a noon show at a record store, where we started getting drunk for the night, then drove 4 hours to detroit, and arrived at some DIY heaven house. the kids running that house (called trumbullplex) where cool, let us stay there after the show and even offered to take us to the beach, but we declined and drove to fort wayne indiana. The Brass Rail, where we played, is a small bar with a mixed audience, a jukebox, and free Busch beer for as long as you can hold it in. That show was really good, people were nuts for us, and we played with some very kind people that were generous enough to not only take us in, but to show us dvds of bands they like the whole night through.
we’re meeting up today with Monotonix, our dear friends from Israel. this is exciting. like barbarians of the same land meeting in some distant battlefield….or something.

lawrence KS was fucking awesome. same energy we let out in the basement only in a bar, with more alcohol. we drove the next day to st louis and played the amazing lemp center where we met up with our friends mark and charlie and muscle brain.  everytime we play there everyone buys cds from us, they are such supportive and attentive kids, its always amazing.  after st. louis we drove up to chicago to play a deserted church. there were like… 6 people there, so we REALLY spread out… like WAY IN. some of us were in the back iles, some of us were on the high podium, some behind the altar. it was just weird really, but we found kind people who took us in and we stayed with them.. we even  met a hebrew speaking girl who knew our friends Monotonix !

after chicago we arrived at a small town called Madison WI (Which is where i am now writing this). the show last night was at a club called the Inferno… the name says everything. a metal discotheque. we spread our shit on the floor and gave it all we got. people were really into it ! we were smashing into each other, breathless. Everyone ended up getting cds and shit from us and we felt like we connected with Madison WI. so , today is Milwaukee… then 2 shows in one day, chicago and detroit. hope we manage that drive.

salt lake to denver to omaha, long drive after long drive, we reach every destination exhausted, drink ourselves to good spirit and give it all we got, in denver it was to 2 old biker dudes with tatoos that kept constantly slam dancing into each other and everyone else, and some weird 80s looking midget doing the robot. in omaha we played to 2 kids that actually read about us in the paper and love israel. we spent the night at their house, and in return we made pasta and home made hummus the following morning.

the drive to columbia MO was supposed to be a breeze. but for some reason, a 4 hour drive turned into 8 hours (we didnt make any stops, only once for gas). we were stuck in some weird time limbo going between time zones, never knowing exactly what time it was and if we were late for the show. when we got to the house show in columbia it had already started downstairs in the basement. and when it was our turn to take the stage, we fucking destroyed that cardboard box, shredding the ceiling with our guitars, smashing the living daylights out of everything not connected to the floor. we needed this show so much after the desert.

ok today is lawrence KS. monday night. see how that works.

yes. new transmission. 50,000 miles guaranteed by GM. we played 2 more house shows in Seattle and a cafe show which we all got by luck (all shows were very fun and we really appreciate peoples help while we were stranded), we moved from house to house with all our gear, bags and sleeping stuff, but then out of nowhere the garage calls and says the car is ready. so we drove to Boise almost, died of exhaustion, and the next morning drove the rest of the way to Salt Lake City.

Show in SLC was really nice, at a dive bar called Burts Tiki Lounge. We met good people there who took us in, and we’re now getting ready to hit Denver in about 7 hours.

van breakdown #2

September 24, 2007

ok. we’re stuck again. in seattle. no bellingham show. maybe no spokane show as well. we’re stuck. again. we are defenatly cursed. the transmission is total loss. we need to be here in seattle for the next 3 days. this is going to set us back about 13 hours of driving.  we’re hanging out at the camp nowhere house, and they are kind enough to let us. such a weird combination of bad and good luck. hope we make it out of the east coast.

hey maybe we’ll break the record in breakdowns on tour and we’ll get a money prize. haha…. that was so funny.

bad week coming to portland

September 20, 2007

a streak of bad shows will hopefuly come to an end in portland tonight at the ground kontrol arcade alley. our new van broke down (!!!) but it turned out to be just the battery connections. chico was just ok (all the bands on the bill were awesome, but there were very few people), arcata cancelled without notice, eugene was just weird, with no local support there was hardly anyone there. atleast we caught a movie on the road (see “balls of fury”, youl never regret it), and slept well at some good people’s houses.

ok, portland, olympia, seattle and bellingham. looking forward to it!

san francisco is cosmic

September 17, 2007

we played with akimbo in los angeles on the floor of the smell. turns out akimbo’s drummer is jewish  and actually visited israel in 94. weird. we’re talking to these guys about coming to israel perhaps in april. should be awesome, these guys really kick some ass. we said goodbye to our friends pony pants and went on to san francisco. there were more hebrew speaking people at that show then ever before, and it was strange and great at the same time to hear alot of people speaking your language in a forgein surrounding. the show was good, but we had more UMPH in l.a . . oh weel, tommorow is chico with experimental dental school , the americas and planets, fucking awesome bill. check it out if you live in the area, should be crazy.

sexual haircuts

September 15, 2007

i exepected san diego to suck big time. boy was i wrong ! what a show ! 100 people packed in a small bar, all very loving and loud and drunk, just the way we like them. we met new friends pony pants , they played first and were just great and fun, 2 metal sounding guitars with an ipod for a drummer and a very happy singer with the right attitude. tonight we’re playing with them again at the smell in LA, also with Akimbo and Hundreds and Thousands. should be a good show. looking forward to it.  tommorow san francisco, what a great state.
