Pastafest
April 8, 2007
Everyday we get up, drink coffee, look outside at the Italian countryside, go to our friend Paride’s house in Saluzzo, eat prechuto, olives, mozzerella, pasta and strawberries, rest in the backyard, play a little soccer then drive out to a show with our instruments, set up, get more food from the venue (!!), get loaded with wine, beer, vodka and pepsi, and rock out. This country is truley great.
Last night we played a youth center in Cirie which was awesome, great place to hang out and see shows. We are playing tonight in Saluzzo at Ratatoj, so theres not much to move after today’s pastafest. Thank god.
Bordeaux, Lyon… tunneltunneltunnel… Torino!
April 7, 2007
The Bordeaux show taught us how bands are taken care of in Europe. Rice + Meat + Wine + Beer = good time during the show. This experience repeated itself several times , Lyon then in Torino, Italy. We went through the Alps to get to Italy from France, a very strange journey into the rocky heart of the mountain. Futuristic lights flashing above.
We are currently staying with our friends of Instrumental Quarter in the country side one hour out of Torino towards Saluzzo. Tonight is another show in Torino and the day after we play in Saluzzo itself. After that we are on our own till we reach Rome and the end of our tour. Last night’s show was insane, we couldnt stay in one place for more then a second. The soundman made “heavy-metal” with his hands at us and the venue fed us till we almost exploded. ahh, Italia.
Paris, Poitiers !
April 4, 2007
We landed in Paris, France and left for an apartment we were supposed to stay in for 2-3 days. The organizers of our show, enrique and maria, took excellent care of us and let us use their apartment for our whole stay. We got to see most of Paris, museums, historical sites, metro, architecture and squares, and also had a great show at Le Generale squat, an amazing squat in Bellville, that is home to many artists and has 3 music spaces for folk, rock, punk and everything else. We also met our friends from Instrumental Quarter who we are now touring with.
Last night was our show in Poitiers at a cafe in the center. Poitiers is an old roman city between Paris and Bordeaux (where we are going today), and it was quite an experience to play in such a city. The show was great and packed and we played two encores.
Tonigt we are going to Bordeaux to play with our friend Thomas Bonvalet (L’ocelle Mare) and Breezy Days band as well as Instrumental Quarter. El Inca is supposed to be small for about 40 people so that is perfect.
